At the BC Lions season home opener thanks to Shaun C. Enjoying a Vancouver summer evening with decent weather and a good game of back and forth scoring in the 3rd quarter. Not a bad way to spend a Friday night and start the weekend.
3 Alarm Mill Fire in Delta BC
I found out last night that the my sawmill my family grew up working in for many years had a major fire about 48 hours ago. My dad still works as a consultant for the mill and he and my mom had to cut short their winter vacation and come back home to help in the rebuilding process. For years I worked in various jobs at the mill while going to high school and college and my brother Lance is still employed there, so the place holds lots of memories for me. The mill has gone through many mountains and valleys over the years and I am sure it will be repaired and running at full capacity quickly. Our family's prayers are also with the injured workers for a quick and full recovery. I found a video posted on the fire, unfortunately please excuse the swear word about 1 min into the video.

World in Motion
I wonder how much it cost the taxpayers of BC to put up this rotating beauty in the new convention centre? Ah the joys of paying for the olympics over the next 20 years.

Reminiscing About July & Fireworks
Its almost half done, gone, a fading memory. Can you believe its August already. The summer clothes have left the stores and been replaced by the fall “trends”. Costco now has Halloween and Christmas decorations for sale!?? Uhg......Anyways, come August a Vancouver tradition has been the Vancouver Fireworks competition, which got me reminiscing about last month and the Canada Fireworks in Surrey we went to. I had forgotten that I took some video of the fireworks on Brian’s handy little Pentax S4, so here is a clip from the last minute of the show. Hmm..maybe if we get to the fireworks this weekend for Emily’s birthday I might take video of the whole show on the mini-DV.
